What Are Workflow Management Rules?

Workflow management rules enable businesses to define their business processes without needing vast programming expertise. These rules can be used by organizations to automate the execution of tasks and detect any issues in real time.

In a workflow, evaluation criteria determine when an action should be performed. The criteria can be based upon various parameters such as field values, record types and ownership of records, and more. Workflow rules can also be configured to trigger actions based on events relating to notes within a particular module. A company could configure the rule to run whenever a note gets created or modified so that customer support teams can easily keep track of the mentions of competitors and respond quickly.

Once a rule is triggered it will trigger either an instant action or a scheduled one. Instant actions happen the minute the rule is activated while scheduled actions are activated at later dates and times.

The scheduled action will be carried out at the time and date configured. The action could be an email notification, task field update webhook, or even a function. You can also select any existing email notifications fields, tasks, or webhooks to be associated with the scheduled action. You can also select the tag that you want to use to filter the recorded information for the action.
